The only quality that notably differentiates it from any other stone is that it's used in steel production. Actually, items made from flux stone have a 2x value multiplier added to them. I wouldn't waste marble on constructions either. As others have already mentioned, it is a flux stone.

As for armor, I'd use the copper as opposed to leather, fairly sure leather is inferior to just about any metal armor.
