Web10 dec. 2012 · The truth is that although food can stay in the stomach for 2-4 hours before being digested, it depends on the content of the food (fat, carbs, protein) as to the time it takes to breakdown and move through the small intestine for absorption. Webafter that length of time you would have absorbed a fair bit of the calories so i'd just count them...if you throw up within about 20-30 minutes its would be a different matter.
